Happy Monday!

Yesterday I ventured to the movie theatre to see Beastly starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens. I have not read the book but from what I saw from the commercials, it looked pretty good. Sadly, it wasn't. The movie was actually quite boring at times. Here is the summary from World Movie Summary:

A modern-day take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love.

The entire script was cheesy with cliche lines in every scene. I also feel they could have made a way better love connection between "Hunter" and Lindy. As for the acting it was...not so great. I am not a fan of Vanessa and thought her acting was very poor. Alex was somewhat better but still not what I expected. I hear he was better in I Am Number 4, so maybe I'll check out that one next.

On the up side, I did get a few chuckles and the story line is really cute. It makes me wonder about the book. Hopefully it was better than the movie which is what I seem to be hearing. I'm still not quite sure if I want to read it. If I do, it will most likely be in the distant future.

What are your thoughts on Beastly? Leave a comment!

  1. I agree that the movie was cheesy and cliched. The book was far, far better.

  2. I'm bummed to hear that - I think I will still see it sometime soon.

  3. Too bad but I still might see it next weekend.

  4. I saw the movie last weekend and while it wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be, I still enjoyed it despite some of the pretty cheesy lines. Neil Patrick Harris was really funny though...

I'm pretty sure you'll like I Am Number Four a lot more! :)

  5. The book is great. Just don't get the one with the cover related to the movie. Then you'll just get the movie version of the book. Get the original book. The beast doesn't even look the same in the book as it does in the movie.

  6. I think the book was brilliant, but judging by the reviews of the movie, I'm not going to go and see it. Probably. And how can the publishers ruin a perfectly good cover with the movie poster? The single rose on a black cover is far more effective.

Please leave a comment because I love them! Come on you know you want to ;)
